Facebook Groups move thousands of products every day in Sri Lanka. Groups like "Online Shopping Sri Lanka" have over 500,000 members.
If you sell in these groups, you know the routine: post a product, get flooded with "inbox" and "DM" comments, then spend hours replying to each person individually.
But here is the painful truth: of those 50 comments, maybe 8 actually buy. That is an 84% drop-off.
Where Buyers Drop Off
Every step is a leak:
- 30% leave while waiting for your DM reply (you were busy with other customers)
- 20% leave after learning the price (it was just curiosity)
- 15% leave during the back-and-forth about sizes, delivery, payment
- 15% leave at the payment stage ("I will transfer later" and never do)
By the end, you convert only 15-20% of interested buyers.
The One Change That Fixes It
Instead of "inbox for price," include a direct store link in your post:
"Women's High-Waist Jeans — Rs 2,800. S, M, L, XL available. Delivery island-wide. COD available. Browse and order: [your store link]"
Now the funnel changes:
- They see the price upfront (no need to inbox)
- They tap the link and see all details (sizes, colors, delivery, payment)
- They order in 30 seconds (no waiting for your reply)
- You get one WhatsApp notification (not 50 DM conversations)
Your conversion rate jumps from 15% to 40-50% because you removed all the friction.
Post Template That Works
"[Product Name] — Rs [Price]. Available in [sizes]. Delivery island-wide. COD, bank transfer, online payment. Browse our full collection and order: [store link]. No need to inbox — just tap, pick, and order!"
This shows the price upfront, lists key details, provides the direct link, and explicitly says "no need to inbox."
